Chalk Walls and Signs

Creating custom chalk walls and signs has been an exciting way to merge art with functionality. Each piece is tailored to reflect the unique personality and purpose of the space, whether it’s a restaurant menu or a decorative wall mural for a business. I love the versatility of chalk as a medium—it allows for dynamic designs that blend bold typography, hand-drawn illustrations, and intricate details. Every project has been an opportunity to bring a fresh, creative vision to life.

The hands-on nature of this work means I’m deeply involved in every step, from brainstorming ideas and sketching concepts to the final chalk marker application. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how these designs not only transform a space but also create memorable experiences for those who interact with them.

Every custom project starts with sketches and approvals. The client wanted the words “Let the good times roll” be part of the design along with New Orleans-related doodles. This was the final design approved by the client.

Then comes projecting the design on the wall and sketching it out with chalk first. The bubble letters are free-handed around the skeleton of the words to make sure they fill in the banner correctly.

Once everything is colored in, the details, including highlights/shadows, dots and stars, were added. the longest time of the entire process is always the coloring in of the designs.

And the final product. There were some changes I had to make along the way, but all in all, the final design stayed true to the initial sketch. This was one of the few walls I created for the client, but it was definitely my favorite!

If you’d like your own customized chalk wall or mural, please do contact me! Large designs like these are one of my favorite things to do.
